Ike
Ike is gone but he left a lasting impression on our area. Record power outages and devastation to Galveston and other cities and communities. Our schools are closed all over the city until Thursday or later. Our family was a little uncomfortable because it was hot and we had no power until this afternoon at 3:00 p.m. But we have such wonderful neighbors on our street and we all reached out to each other. The men folk were chain-sawing downed trees and branches and the kids played in the rainy streets together and had a ball. We visited in our front yards and shared tools, supplies and friendship. What a blessing to live in our community. Maggie and Jay were able to meet the neighbors and Jay jumped right in to help wherever he was needed for the post-hurricane clean-up. He was supposed to start his new job tomorrow but that has been postponed, probably because most businesses in Houston have no power.
