Another Hammock in My Life

Move over, hammocks in Austin and Gulf Shores, there's a new hammock in town. Last week, I had the privilege of spending three days at the Cenacle Retreat House here in Houston. Located on eight wooded acres in the Memorial area, The Cenacle is open for individual or group retreats. I went on an individual "silent" retreat and met with a spiritual director every day for an hour. The rest of the time was my own - to walk the trails of Turtle Bayou, which borders one side of the property; sit outside in the many lawn chairs or swings and watch the peacocks and squirrels, listen to the birds or the waterfalls and just glory in God's beauty all around me. It was a special time for me and I am thankful to my husband for giving me this retreat as a birthday gift. I used my time to pray and study the Bible, write in my journal, read and of course, take a nap in the hammock! That is heaven to me.
